Germantown is a Tennessee city located in Shelby County, and as of 2010 the population was 38,900. A suburb of Memphis, the commercial and retail industries dominate the economy of Germantown. The city’s center is made up of “Old Germantown”, a neighborhood that is centered on railroad tracks that reminisce the earliest days of the community. As part of a humid subtropical climate zone, this area can experience drastic swings in temperature depending on if weather fronts come from the Gulf of Mexico or the Great Plains. Typically, summers are hot and humid and winters are mild.
